no its quite a diff sound that the "processing info" sound.... but then again my cable modem was up and down all day (fine time for that to happen during Survivor!!) .... so after shutting down and recycling all my components ... seems things just may be ok.

QUESTION: Why is my hard drive (tower) ,making grinding sounds every once in a while??? Can't be good.... doesn't sound good. What should I do??? HELP!!!

Grinding? If you mean like just normal sounds, like the way a refrigerator runs it's fine. If it's grinding I'd recomend backing up files because You may have dust in the hardrive, although normally it woudl've been broke by now.

Is it normal for the pc to slow down start up time and processing in general the more programs you install?

Yes because many of the programs you've installed are probably added to the list of applications to be started up.

you might just have d/l something that is slowing your comp down or something? my comp grinds sometimes but just b/c it is going slow that day or something. sometimes some programs mess your computer up as well such as things like KaZzA and other places that you d/l music from?

Well that would be the computer reading the files off the hardrive that makes the "grinding" noise.

If I feel the need to brush while in front of the computer I just go get my toothbrush out of the bathroom and bring it in here with me. My rechargeable toothbrush doesn't need a usb port.
