Sokusen
Uechi ryu has 3 original kata with 5 bridging kata worked in between for a total of 8. If all you studied were the 3 original kata and left out the other 5 you would still have a strong understand of Uechi ryu.

Catfish
Hyakuhachiho? Looks very Goju! I see there is some debate about its origins. Interesting kata.
Zaine
In the Matusumura Seito Shorin Ryu that was taught to me we had 15 kata learned in this order (and yes, it is out of order for most other schools who have these katas):10th Kyu: Pinan 1 9th Kyu: Pinan 28th Kyu: Matsumura Bo 18th Kyu: Seisan7th Kyu: Wansu6th Kyu: Bo 2 (this was a bo form that my instructor made)6th Kyu: Naihanchi5th Kyu: Naihanchi 25th Kyu: Ananku4th Kyu: Ananku with Sai3rd Kyu: Naihanchi 32nd Kyu: Pinan 31st Kyu: Passai Sho1st Dan: Chinto1st Dan: Passai DaiTowards the end I'm a bit fuzzy on the order that the belts were supposed to learn it because my teacher taught some of the katas to us around 3rd Kyu that we weren't supposed to know until 1st Kyu or Dan. There are more forms in the system, but I don't know them. NRShukokai
We currently have a syllabus of 30 grading kata, from under 10yrs 9th Kyu through to Sandan. Some grades are required to perform 3 kata to pass their gradings. We have an additional 13 Kata that can be used for competition or extra grading kata for Sandan to demonstrate bunkai.Mabuni Sensei (Shito-ryu) studied kata from all his instructors and thus passed them through to his students and was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of kata Sandan - ShukokaiHonbu - AM Shukokai Karate-Do Renmei
