Korttihai_84 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) Sory my english. I'm from finland. It's intresting that you dont talk about occupiers. What i mean when i say karate makes you stupid is that i cant believe what karate guys are thinking when they claim:In Finland karate guys always say that karate is best combat sport because they beat up all occupiers with karate.(I think it was 1970 when occupiers left okinawa and they dint left because karate guys. How karate did help those peoples living in okinawa!?)Thai boxing is modern combat sport only meant to mma ring.(thai boxing is older than karate) MMA is only sport.(so peoples think its better to do kata and kihon and little bit bukkake or is it bunkai and thats better than sparring with minimal rules. I often heard how mma there are rules but in karate there is no... Of course there are rules when you are in karate dojo. Often there is more rules when you do karate you cant take fight to the ground what could happen somethimes. Often you cant use lowkicks, elbows, you cant hit to the head what is most popular target when you are on street. You cant stab you friend when you are sparring and so on.If you do mma you quikly find how easy it could be to strikes to the spine or back of the head. Of course you dont do that when you sparring but you could use that when you are on street. So what is moving in karates head when they are doing such stupid allegations??? Karate doesn't monopolise the market in this area.Sojobo Edited January 4, 2012 by sojobo I know violence isn't the answer... Zaine Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 I agree with sojobo here. If you're gonna point out the stupid people in karate, you should also go to the length of pointing out the stupid people in every other style. On a side note, it's bunkai, bukkake is something ENTIRELY different. Martial arts training is 30% classroom training, 70% solo training.https://www.instagram.com/nordic_karate/

JusticeZero Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 ...guys always say....that karate is best.. because (the Okinawans drove the Japanese invaders out) with karate...that Thai boxing is.. only meant for mma ring. (thai boxing is older than karate) ..that MMA is only sport..(reformatted for clarity, apologies)Karate doesn't make one stupid. Saying and believing stupid things makes one stupid. Especially when they are stupid things that the majority of karateka worldwide agree are ridiculous claims.Mind you, boxers, gung fu stylists, fencers, kendoka, aikidoka, judoka, wrestlers, etc. also say and believe a long list of silly things, varying from one person to the next. These things generally are just goofy things that one person got in their head and told to the small handful of other people who didn't know any better and were excessively credulous and thus don't realize that most everybody else thinks that they are completely off their rocker for not looking into these things more carefully before repeating it to everyone. Liver Punch Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 On a side note, it's bunkai, bukkake is something ENTIRELY different.Well, that makes this an early post of the month candidate. I'm not sure about Karate, but there's a decent chance that a whole lot of boxing actually will make you dumb. "A gun is a tool. evergrey Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 There are ignorant people... in every style. There are people who turn their noses up at all other styles... in every style. There are people who claim that only their style is effective on the street, or deadly.... in every style.Sense a pattern? The pattern is that some people don't do their homework, some people get really cocky, and some people forget one important idea- shut up and train.Karate doesn't make you stupid. Neither does Muay Thai or MMA. My dojo is a karate dojo. The serious fighters cross train, usually in BJJ. There is also a lot of talk in our dojo about practical application of technique for self-defense, as well as some demonstration and (carefully controlled) practice of things that could and should never be used in a tournament, but should be used for self-defense. Our dojo is run and owned by a police officer, and we are a full contact knockdown style. Perhaps that makes a difference... but please do not paint all karateka with the same brush. http://kyokushinchick.blogspot.com/"If you can fatally judo-chop a bull, you can sit however you want." -MasterPain, on why Mas Oyama had Kyokushin karateka sit in seiza with their clenched fists on their thighs.
