I always thought that power was everything but the hardest guy in my school is one of the smallest. There are quite a few big guys in my school but one of them got knocked out with a hook to the face. Also, this guy battered 3 17 year olds at once. What makes some hard? Is it mainly mental or physical?

I assume you mean tough. Some just have a good jaw and others don't. LOL. It has a lot to do with your mental state but at the same time you can't train for pain or loss of oxygen. LOL.

I think it is a combination of mental and physical... You have to be able to think quick on your feet, and as for the physical you have to do the best with what you got, Someone who is 5 feet can be just as powerful as someone who is 6. You have tot raain your body according to your size and you have to use the natural advantages you have to their fullest and counter the natural disadvanatages through training.. Bigger does not mean better :)

Given enough time, any man may master the physical. With enough knowledge, any man may become wise. It is the true warrior who can master both....and surpass the result.

To be hard i think someone must be a skillful fighter as well as someone who can take a hit and has a strong mental drive to be the best, also they should be confident, not really arrogant juss comfortable in himself, but not timid.

Uh-oh! Story time...

When i first started Thai boxing i pointed out to the instructor I wasn't very hard and I didn't like the shin conditioning very much  :D

Anyway when i said 'hard' he laughed at me :D , he then paired me off with the biggest 'hardest' looking guy i've ever seen. The next exercise involved a lot of clashing shins :o (taking it in turns shin kick, shin block). The instructor said to me when you clash shins it will hurt both of you, but he said hide your pain and smile, then give him another good whack, it'll hurt both of you but keep smiling and if you see him wince give him a wink  and another smile then hit him again harder.

at the end of the exercise my shins were erm hurting  . But i still hide the pain :brow: . The guy i was paired up with was hurting too and looked at me like and commented on how 'hard' i was.

THE MORAL OF THIS STORY: Hardness is just not showing what your feeling, it's a front nothing else. These people are just the same as you and i but they come across as if they don't feel pain, every one feels pain and no one likes it.

It takes sacrifice to be the best.

There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy.
