sensei8
Where's the kime? That's exactly what I was wondering. GM's techniques were not GM caliber, imho. Students will want to emulate the GM, for the GM is the head of the style/organization in every shape, way, and/or form.Kime is FOCUS...POWER!! Kime is not MOTION(S)!!I'm just aking a/the question. I mean no disrespect to GM In Ho Lee and/or the ATA Organization and/or any ATA student. **Proof is on the floor!!!
MasterPain
It's one of very few Japanese words that I know, and one that is very important. The kata looked walked through, balance was off at times. the "attackers" did not attack realistically. I cringe every time I see an uke stand and wait to be struck. The lack of INTENT in the strikes shows a serious disconnect from the martial part of martial arts. Also, what's up with the 6 inch wide belt? Zaine
It almost feels like he just learned to form himself. Martial arts training is 30% classroom training, 70% solo training.https://www.instagram.com/nordic_karate/
sensei8
If I'm correct, the form GM In Ho Lee was doing is only for the GM, who's the only one in the ATA with that rank, 9th Dan. That form is normally only done during his/her inauguration as the GM. Name of the form is Dong Seung, it has 99 moves. The ATA GM goes thru quite a lot leading up to his/her inauguration, including learning that particular form. Edited December 25, 2011 by sensei8 **Proof is on the floor!!! Zaine
Well I suppose that explains it then! Martial arts training is 30% classroom training, 70% solo training.https://www.instagram.com/nordic_karate/
Montana
Well, if this individual was doing this kata in a tournament in the black belt division, I'd probably score him a 7...out of a possible 10. No power, balance issues, a couple of extra steps in there, etc.Not very impressive IMHO for a black belt...and he's a 9th dan grand master?Sorry to say this, but IMO he didn't do anything to improve the image of TKD to the world. If you don't want to stand behind our troops, please..feel free to stand in front of them.Student since January 1975---4th Dan, retired due to non-martial arts related injuries. bushido_man96
He is probably in his 70s by now. I had just recently heard he was the new GM in the ATA.From what I recall, the GM's form is basically a form made by taking pieces of all the other ATA forms and putting them together. Its not every ATA form, but parts from each one. That said, no, it wasn't the most visually impressive display I've ever seen. I doubt that my form is, either. I think there is also a fast involved along the culmination of attaining the GM rank in the ATA. There is a lot to it. Fasting is one thing I would never force myself to do. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
ninjanurse
The reality is that as we get older our physical prowess declines no matter what we do. On a side note: Fasting correctly can actually result in a more focused mind and body....too many people are afraid of being hungry so they never try. It can be a very energizing experience!
