Here, read these websites... claiming that martial arts are evil, and chi and meditation are forms of worshipping the devil...

It saddens me the catholic church believes that. I went onto a yoga board, and posted how I love yoga. Later, I was drowned in a flood of e-mails accusing me of drinking my own urine and worshipping the devil. Don't I wish I had a portal to the spiritual realm by becoming skilled at sparring? Why do they believe the spirirtual world and the deivl are easily accessed by those who do asian practices such as M.A. and yoga? Are we really so judgemental about what we don't understand??

This reminds me of the salem witch hunt, when millions of innocents burned because of ignorant, predjudace peopla.

In general - people attack that which they dont understand or fear.

When someone is being ignorant about martial arts (as listed above) simply ask them what things they like (sports, TV, movies, music, etc.) - then reflect the same ignorance back to them.

Scary...

I have a feeling that teaching chi and meditation and breathing and philosophy will produce much better human beings than the ones being produced in the churches of the preachers who wrote those articles.

I'm a Christian too, i dun see how chi and stuff could go against wat God says...i know it says in the Bible that magic and pychic stuff is the work of the devil, not chi and stuff, if one does have "magical" powers i would tend to think that were under demonic influence too since it is inhuman, but chi is juss natural, sometin about magnetic fields er somfin plus, it dun do anytin magical anyways.

The Bible does warn us about pychics like John Edward on Crossing Over on Sci Fi due to the fact that they use 'familiar spirits'.

Poeple like him have been around quite a while - even back in the Bible days - so steer clear from them.

I'm a Christian also. I've actually had a little trouble reconciling martial arts in my heart while keeping in mind Scripture like loving your enemy and turn the other cheek. While i can learn how to fight - is it right to fight ? I wouldn't really say that i identify with a denomination although i go to a Lutheran Church and yes through Christ all things are possible.

i was born a christian but im not anymore. i think martial arts are nothin to do with religion. martial arts is just a hobby and religion is a lifestyle. just my oppinion.

XpOiSoN FrEeX as you progress further in your training (and get a little older :) ) You will find that your MA training becomes a lifestyle, at least this is what I have found. I do not look at my training anymore as a mere hobby it is a way of life :karate: . I found that this life style is further enhanced and support by religion (mainly budhism but it could easyly relate to any religion). Once you get past the obvious physical elements of training and get more in touch with the mental aspects this way of life will begin to take shape for you :) I am just talking from experience since I started train at the age of 8, but everyone is different :D

Given enough time, any man may master the physical. With enough knowledge, any man may become wise. It is the true warrior who can master both....and surpass the result.

I dunno. I kinda like John Edward. His book explains what he does, and how he does it. Anyone can do it if they are willing to.
