Not sure if this topic has been tackled before. I only have experience in two types of striking martial arts. Tae Kwon Do and Shorin Ryu. In my Shorin Ryu teachings I'm taught to make a "Shuri Fist". Now what I'm asking is what other arts use this type of fist. I have a link that provides a great explaination on it. Let me see what you think

I learned it in Shuri-Ryu and still use it now in Shorin-Ryu--the same goes for my instructor, actually. My Sensei typically only uses it when he's punching something hard (makiwara), whereas I use it for all my punches except for my jab, hammerfists and backfists (I use tate-ken with the thumb on top for those).
