jiu-jitsu fighter Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 half guard is like if your opponent is cross side position and he tries to mount you, but u catch one of his legs, guy is still on top of u "When we go to the ground, you are in my world, the ground is the ocean, I am the shark, and most people don't even know how to swim"
Venezolano Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 i know it, but i don't use it Valencia - Venezuela.
Freestyler Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 half guard is just as bad as the guy on top of you, either put him in full guard or get up, cuz thats a bad position, im only 140 lbs like you so take my advice Are you kidding ? Get an experienced guy, such as a purple belt, and you'll have a hard time passing his half guard.
jiu-jitsu fighter Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 freestyler ,half guard is a defensive position, the guy on the bottom can't do that many submissions if any, giving the guy on the top ,so much more of a better position you don't want to keep the guy in your half guard, you would want to take the back or put him in full guard, i can't see any reason for wanting to have the guy in my half guard "When we go to the ground, you are in my world, the ground is the ocean, I am the shark, and most people don't even know how to swim"
Freestyler Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 ah, that's true. Sorry! When I read half guard before I visualised spider guard/open guard. Not sure why, but I do happen to agree with you.
ZeRo Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 im starting to use the gaurd alot now, it seems to work well for me.
