Seoi-nage is a daunting throw - particularly for uke.

There are ways the throw can be "assisted" though.

My instructor teaches us to use our free hand to push against the small of tori's back as we are being thrown as part of the ukemi.

Think of it like doing a front flip / vault in gymnastics - you use your arms to propel yourself round to land feet first, rather than straight on to your back.

Your feet then absorb the initial impact.

Well - that’s the theory anyway.

thats a really good thought,.. tho i think it would b more useful for a higher belt, when ur lower u need to grasp falling anyways right? why not learn it in the thick of it? idk it really is a good idea but let me get back on topic here...

is it wrong to teach an incorrect technique to be retrained later to do the technique correctly?

"ok, well i must warn you, im an orange belt on karateforums!"

I'd say no, as a general rule. Too hard to fix later on. If the technique is that hard for beginners, then I'd say its best to wait to introduce it when they have the necessary knowedge and technique to train it safely.
