sensei8 Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I can truly appreciate this from Higaonna Sensei...I'm not sure many can appreciate its context, but for those who can, enjoy!! **Proof is on the floor!!!

Harlan Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 My thoughts: no one is going to take the icon on for archaic training practices. Leaves fall.
UselessDave Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I ..think it's waste of time. "People study from boredom. They fall in love, get married and reproduce from boredom. And finally die from boredom." -Georg Buchner
MasterPain Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Reminds me of Tong Po in Kickboxer. My fists bleed death. -Akuma
Ueshirokarate Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Nothing wrong with it, if done correctly. It will certainly help make your bones stronger (i.e increased bone density), just like a makiwara can due to Wolff's law. Matsubayashi RyuCMMACC (Certified Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning Coach)
Montana Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Very impressive demonstration. I wonder how bad his hands ache all of the time? If you don't want to stand behind our troops, please..feel free to stand in front of them.Student since January 1975---4th Dan, retired due to non-martial arts related injuries.
Ueshirokarate Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Very impressive demonstration. I wonder how bad his hands ache all of the time?I have hit bare handed walls, makiwara, heavy bags, etc. I don't get aches all them time. If I strike something exceptionally hard, my hand will hurt for a few days but nothing after it heals. Matsubayashi RyuCMMACC (Certified Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning Coach)
Kuma Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Higaonna Sensei is one of my favorite karateka. I've seen this video before, but it's always fun to watch. Not only is his conditioning and knowledge incredible, but he also always seems to be one of the kindest most humble guys you'll ever meet.
