Whats the worst beating you've ever took in the Dojo????

We're doing non-contact karate, which doesn't mean, we don't practice our kicks on the belly. And there are some guys who kick really good.

But I wouldn't like a training where I have to accept to be hurt quite regularly. :-?

Sure, accidents can happen, as everywhere. :( But I haven't seen that many.

Even training full contact, injuries will be rare. I've only been hurt twice in 20 years. Much safer than most sports.

I've had a few slugfests with LiverPunch that rank pretty high. I took a great beating with a padded escrima stick by a guy named Errol.

It should be stated that Errol is an instructor in Escrima who trained under the great Angel Cabalas. Nothing to be ashamed of there MP.

I have a few. I took a reverse side kick to the chest from an instructor once; I thought he was throwing a spin hook kick. The same instructor in a DT demo shin kicked me in the common peroneal, through a kick shield, and dropped me, and he also knocked me stupid momentarily with a brachial stun.

Sparring with my "little" brother (5'10", 300+ lbs), I got thrown across a room.

Good times!

That's quite reassuring to know, thanks.

Alex hit me with a combo like this when I was a teenager.

At least that's how I remember it.

Let me guess, he hadn't been kind enough to teach you the combo breaker yet, had he?

I was maybe 15 testing for my Brown Belt and got paired with a man to sparr - he didn't beat me so bad I was tired and probably quite emotional because of this afterwards.

A year or so later I think I got my own back on more than one occasion!

Oh got my nose busted in a training session sparring with a guy maybe 3 stones heavier.

2 minute continuous sparring against a Xing Yi guy cross training in some other style of Kung Fu. At the opening of the match I tried to figure out his defenses from his stance/guard. After that I only remember thinking to myself "Why am I attacking? this is a bad idea, why am I doing this? Why did I just throw a kick, why am I on the ground all of a sudden?" I was slaughtered, and didn't remember anything I did, or why I even did anything in that match. I felt like I had no control over my own actions

It still gives me nightmares.
