tkdkid123 Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 something spilled in my karate bag and it stinks REALLY bad! does anyone know how to get the stench out? "Impossible" is just an excuse not to try. - me
DWx Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Chuck it in the washing machine would be my guess. Or if you cant do that. Maybe disinfect it with a 1:9, bleach:water solution. "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
tkdkid123 Posted June 3, 2011 Author Posted June 3, 2011 it's leather so I don't think I can. "Impossible" is just an excuse not to try. - me
DWx Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 hmm ok well the thing with leather is that stuff soaks into it. Try the bleach mixture as I use that on my leather sparring gear. "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
tkdkid123 Posted June 3, 2011 Author Posted June 3, 2011 ok thanks! "Impossible" is just an excuse not to try. - me
JusticeZero Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Do you know what it was that spilled? "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly." - Baleia
tkdkid123 Posted June 3, 2011 Author Posted June 3, 2011 no I just opened it up last night and it smelled really bad. There is a stain on my dobok so I have to get a new one. but I'm not exactly sure what spilled. "Impossible" is just an excuse not to try. - me
JusticeZero Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Well, first you need to turn it inside out to get the stain on the outside. Then you're going to want to wipe it down with a damp soapy cloth and get the spot washed off. Once you got the guck off, wipe it with a damp but not soapy cloth to get the soap off, then a dry cloth to get the wet off, then dab a bit of olive oil on a paper towel and give it a quick rubdown where you washed. Let it air out awhile (leave it to air out, do other things..) then put it back right side out. If there's a lingering stink, sprinkle some baking soda in. tkdkid123 Posted June 3, 2011 Author Posted June 3, 2011 what if I just put baking soda in the bag. would the stench go away. how long do I leave it in there? "Impossible" is just an excuse not to try. - me
JusticeZero Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 It might help the stench, but to get the stench to actually go away the bag needs to be clean. Sorry, but you're going to need to actually clean the bag. "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly." - Baleia
