Given enough time, any man may master the physical. With enough knowledge, any man may become wise. It is the true warrior who can master both....and surpass the result.

I study both arts and I punch with vertical fist when im using the art wing chun and i punch horizontal fist for TKD. But both of my masters said that both punches are acceptable. So I just the punch that the art uses...its less confusing.

I feel a lot better punching with vertical fists.. but does one have more advantage over the other?

If it feels better there's probably a reason for it. With our punches the fists are at 45 degrees. The mechanics of the arm can allow for more effective strikes that way. I don't know if they're more or less effective than vertical punches... but I would think more (in a way it might be a compromise between the two... best of both worlds). From what I've been told, in the past in the orient the kids learning Karate as part of their schooling were taught to punch with a horizontal fist just so it would be less likely that they'd seriously hurt each other.

Plus at 45 degrees you can hit gall bladder 24 and liver 14 just right at the same time :).
