Dobbersky Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Do you mean Manchester UK?If so I searched for many years for a Goju School in the Manchester area to no avail. I took Wado instead. If anyone knows of a Goju school in Manchester then please not me know (note this does not mean any Goju/Shotokan schools like GoKan Ryu, Red Tiger, Black Panther etc) "Challenge is a Dragon with a Gift in its mouth....Tame the Dragon and the Gift is Yours....." moriniuk Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 There's a Goju school in Heaton Mersey but they only teach kids. Then around the Bolton and Wigan areas there are a few long established schools under Sensei Tony Christian. https://www.bkkmuaythai.piczo.com
Dobbersky Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Shame, the classes are so far!I live near Manchester Airport, so Bolton & Wigan are slightly too far away for me. Heaton Mersey would have been fine, shame the Sensei only teaches kids. "Challenge is a Dragon with a Gift in its mouth....Tame the Dragon and the Gift is Yours....." Noela Evans (author)

moriniuk Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I didn't mention the Ho Shin Do group because I thought they were similar to the other groups that you weren't interested in.I'm sure that they used to advertise that it was a Shotokan/ Goju mix, but looking at their website it seems to be Goju now.I may be very wrong, but I thought that the Ho Shin Do group was run along similar lines to GKR.They have a location very close to where I live in Manchester and they came knocking on my door offering discounts if I signed up for membership on the night. https://www.bkkmuaythai.piczo.com

I would say it was a genuine Goju Dojo as a senior Japanese Hanshi who is well know would not put his name to a rebel GKR school.I visited them and have invited them to my Dojo as with anyone in Manchester and surrounds are always welcome to train with me, I'll do my best to make you feel welcome "Challenge is a Dragon with a Gift in its mouth....Tame the Dragon and the Gift is Yours....." IanB Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Gary is indeed teaching at a Goju Kai dojo in Heaton Mersey (Priestnall Recreation Centre) Thursdays 17:30 -19:00 and Sundays 10:00 - 12:00 am. I'd like to correct a misconception in this post trail also by saying that this club is not only for kids but adults too All previous students of Sensei Mark Tsang are welcome, as are any new ones!
Harkon72 Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Unless there is a club hidden somewhere in south wales Goju Ryu or Goju Kai is unknown here in Wales. I heard of Some in Birmingham, England; unfortunately there it was suppressed by the growth of MMA; leave off the protective pads and ground pounding I say! Look to the far mountain and see all.
