bushido_man96
I've never been scared of anything. Now, if I were being asked to do flips and such, then I would be, because my athletic ability does not stretch that far. As for rolls and falls, though, I've taken some pretty hard ones. The more you do it, the more you get used to it, and that fear will leave you. You just need to practice rolling and falling more. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
tsd1592
Dont worry everyone in this world has been scared at one time or another. But its what we do with that fear that defines us. If you start quitting now out of fear then it will happen again and again. Imagine the filling you will have when you face it and accomplish your technique. Trust me the old saying you can do anything you put your mind to is the truth. Just believe in yourself and your instructor. Now i would say if you don't trust or believe in your instructor than don't do it. As you will not fill safe and it will most likey cause a mistake. In training you must always fill safe even in an unsafe situation. Also do not listine to the guys on here saying that have never been afraid of anything. The fact is we are all borne with fear we just have to man or women up and face it.
Groinstrike
Our instructors try to make it a point to intimitade during testing. Fear and intimidation are two tools that are used by martial artists to achieve their objectives(hit the other guy). THe sooner we learn to recognize these reactions to fear and doubt, the sooner we can learn to control them.

I'm not sure how I feel about this.Seriously I should clarify that we do not just bully people. We will however, back you into the corner and make you fight out of it, push your endurance until you vomit and such. tkdkid123
One we are practicing, or did practice was, while holding the other partner chest to chest, you roll down and do a backroll, he does a front roll and you land over him...I was never able to land on top, always end up on the side. Little scary to do, We had to do that too! I was so scared but I couldn't do it. It was really hard. "Impossible" is just an excuse not to try. - me
sensei8
Scared of a technique? No. It is what it is and I'm sure I'll meet it with confidence. Of course, that's now, when I first started, my youthful anxiety would get the best of me from time to time. **Proof is on the floor!!!
etali
Is it the technique you're scared of, or the possibility that you'll do it wrong and look silly in front of the people you're working with?I don't look forward to doing certain technique drills - I'm really skinny, and any impact on bony areas hurts. I'm not scared though, because I know bumps and bruises will heal, and there's not really any chance of permanent damage. I am, however, absolutely petrified of any of the "just for fun" techniques we learn - jumping/spinning kicks, for example. If there's jumping AND spinning involved, I desperately want to just hide in a corner. I am scared of those techniques because I'm scared of looking silly when I get them wrong. I do them anyway, though, and usually the outcome of my attempt isn't as bad as I feared. It's me creating the fear in those situations, not the technique, or the people I train with. Fish
The specific technique you described (block and hold the kick followed by a takedown) should be practised slowly at first and with plenty of control. It comes with practice. It used to be one of my favourite techniques. Dobbersky
Falling Down kicks, especially when demo'ingI supose its not a fear as such just people tend to feature on the bad bits as opposed to the good bitsI use to fear jumping spinning back round kick as it was "uncontrolled" and to stamina, balance and determination to be able to perform.I do fear "Neck Wrenching" techniques - application of as it can be lethal if done incorrectly "Challenge is a Dragon with a Gift in its mouth....Tame the Dragon and the Gift is Yours....."
