Dobie1979 Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 Yeah, I haven't seen it a lot in UFC and I'm wondering if we'll see more. I bet more people will start to use it. In the examples they first set it up with low kicks and them BAM!
pittbullJudoka Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I think Machida's skip/jump was to close thaat tiny bit of distance he needed to land the the kick. The front kick is used all the time in MMA. The fighters use it as a push kick than a snapping kick. The reason you don't see the head level front kicks is they are a afraid of giving up the take down.
bushido_man96 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I agree with you, but in the time I have watched MMA fights, I haven't seen that many takedowns while guys were standing on one leg from kicking. I haven't watched in a while, though. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

The way that Anderson and Lyoto throw the kick has much worse intentions than a probing push kick. The past is no more; the future is yet to come. Nothing exist except for the here and now. Most MMA guys have a Thai base for their kicks, hence the push kick. Some don't. Like Lyoto, and Anderson if you count his long past TKD training when he was a kid. unknownstyle Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 You would think you would see it more in mma than you do, and its said you don't. Front snap kicks are about the most effective and easily set up. "Live life easy and peacefully, but when it is time to fight become ferocious."
ShoriKid Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 I'd point back to the prominence of Thai Boxing as the training background that most MMA guys get their kicks from. There, most of your front kicks are to get distance as push kicks to the body. A very different technique than even a sharp front kick to the body. Kisshu fushin, Oni te hotoke kokoro. pittbullJudoka Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 What I'd like to see mma fighters untilize is the front kick to the hip crease. As it is very effective at disruppting timing, foot work, and breaking the posture of your opponent.
