Gi pants with pockets?

Dubr

Recommended Posts

I'm not a student of karate, but I enjoy martial arts very much. Particularly the kicks. Problem is, normal pants aren't made to withstand wide or forceful kicks, and end up ripping in the crotch area over time. I've lost 3 pairs already over the last few months.

Now why don't I just go and buy a karate gi, and problem solved? Well, they don't have pockets. I often go places, and need my wallet and keys, etc., and 'practice' martial forms on-the-go. It's part of the appeal, for me, that I can go anywhere, or be anywhere, and use my body the way I want to, without needing to go home and change to protect my clothes.

The pants are so comfortable, I'd have no qualms wearing them everyday, if they could just hold a few objects.

Are there gi pants that have been made for pockets for reasons like I've stated? I browsed briefly on google, but there are SO many karate gear sites, and some of them look unprofessional.

There was a site that had gi pants with cargo pockets on the sides(which would have been perfect!), but there's no details, or a review, or anything to let me know if they're what I'm after.

So, does anyone know if pants like these are made? And if it's from somewhere reputable?

THank you

These are the last time I've ever heard or something like what you're asking for:

I would look for a pair of black military fatigue pants. They have plenty of pockets, are designed to move in and look good with most other clothes.

I still vote for the Chuck Norris action jeans.

I had a pair of Chuck Norris jeans in the 80's. There were very tight. There were too uncomfortable, no matter how cool they were :D

I put in another vote for BDU pants, but if you really want gi pants just buy them and have a place that does alterations add pockets for you.

My TKD pants have a back pocket... but they only come in white and have all the embroidery on so you probably wouldn't want them.

Surely anything worn by the military like combat/cargo pants would be alright. Can get them pretty cheap from surplus shops too.

Craghoppers has outdoor pants with stretch panels build in everywhere a human bends and moves...they've got a ton of pockets. It's worth checking out.

I was the same for years, and used to carry my keys/wallet etc in my hands, or put them in jacket pockets as I loved my MA pants.

Now I have Nike tracksuit pants, they work a treat, side and back pocket, as well as full mobility for high kicks...

Check out the Ed Parker Kenpo gi.

Tiger Claw is proud to offer Ed Parker Jr.’s signature line of premium gi’s. This is a durable, well-constructed gi with the serious Kenpo practitioner in mind. Modeled after Ed Parker’s original gi design, these gis feature thick, stone-washed black, 100% cotton fabric, with double stitched seams, double-layer knee and shins, reinforced critical seams, and the signature back pants pocket and inner flank pocket. Superb quality and craftsmanship. This is a uniform worthy of the Parker name.
