Liver Punch Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 It is not good for a bouncer or security professional to destroy unruly patrons with an iron fist.MMA Jim might disagree with you, but I cannot speak for him. I've worked a some odd-job security, and it's certainly an interesting scenario to find yourself in. I've got some stuff that we've got the use at the kiddie-jail, that's basically just a toned-down version of our system, and is almost 100% applicable to other security scenarios...I'll give a short little demo when I get home next time. Groinstrike Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Being from a combative system where defense is paramount, i don't think i will ever get past the idea of self defense. We do, on occasion, dable in sport applications. But the center of our system will always be efficient and realistic defense.
LittleW Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Self-defense has never been my initial reason to practise Karate. But if I train a MA, it shouldn't be complete useless in such a situation. And I think, no matter if you react like you trained it, you will react better.
