Dobie1979 Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Today I made the jump from Karate to Japanese Ju Jitsu. I never realized how bad those joint locks really hurt. I had fun trying out the techniques and having them done on myself. I see how effective they can be. The first day was great looking forward to increaseing my joint flexabilty and pain tolerence .
ps1 Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Which style of Jujitsu are you studying? "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
Dobie1979 Posted February 22, 2011 Author Posted February 22, 2011 Hakko Denshin Ryu Jujutsu, I just started on Sunday and next class is this Wednesday. I don't know much about it as of yet. The first class was good.
ps1 Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Cool. I hope you enjoy it. I know I always enjoyed my time training (Diato Ryu and Yagyu Ryu). Much of the stuff we did there is still found in the curriculum of both Judo and BJJ. Have fun. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
bushido_man96 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Keep us posted as to what the classwork entails, as well. I've done Aikido and Combat Hapkido classes, and would be interested in how JJJ goes. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
sojobo Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Hakko Ryu is related to Daito-ryu, which in turn was a major influence on Aikido, so aiki-jujutsu will feature in its makeup - which as always a good skill to acquire.Typical to most Japanese Budo, it also features a lot of work on posture, correct body mechanics and movement - as well as combative stratagems. As I understand it, some groups feature Shiatsu (massaging) in their syllabus.I hope you enjoy.Sojobo I know violence isn't the answer... I got it wrong on purpose!!!http://www.karatedo.co.jp/wado/w_eng/e_index.htm
Dobie1979 Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 Ours offers Shiatsu massage. I just started, but looking at the history, my style wants to teach the physical healling along with the hurting .
