But you don't *look* armed..

Because things are bad for whatever reason right now, you bring a weapon with you. Maybe there's rioting, or a disaster, or some other generalized chaos. You go out into the night to deal with the problems at hand.

On your way, a police officer stops you to warn you about the dangers and because of all of the troublesome activity. They look you over, talking to you. They look right at your weapon. Then they let you go, because "They aren't carrying any weapons or anything.."

What do you have and have some idea how to use that would fit this description? What do you do to keep yourself up to date on these, if anything?

In such a situation, I would be at home loading my rifle, and any rioter coming in my home would be shot.

That being said, I carry a knife clipped on my pocket, it's legal, it's sharp, oiled and I train with it. If police look me over, I would say they are suspicious. At which point I would ask them to take it off me. The last thing I need in life is a nervous person with a gun thinking I'm a threat.

Agreed, if things are that bad stay at home where you atleast have a little security, we aren't supposed to think like superheroes or vigilanties. A car can be a great weapon when not looking "armed". On another tangent Masterpain what do you think about something about hitting your advesary with your car being worked in to the 5 values of Bujin Bugei Jutsu. LOL!!

Might work with self-confidence, the other 4 would fall under serious scrutiny. It does however fall under the weapons range of combat, and would definitely stun unbalance and control, though evasion would be better.

The chaos outside is NOT a problem I would be dealing with--I would be staying in my home with my family and guns. Going anywhere is always dangerous and I carry a knife, and sometimes my handgun (perfectly legal here) but if there was an event of civil unrest I would not be going anywhere at all.

I can think of reasons to be out; you might be needing to get TO home, or bring family members home. Or you might be with the people providing assistance. Or home was already rendered unsafe in some fashion. In any case, how would you address wanting to have some weapon backup without being obviously armed?

Drive a car, can be a great weapon in a pinch

Personally, I consider the car to be far too expensive, unhealthy, and likely to kill it's user.. does seem to be far more legally justifyable than other weapons though. "I didn't see him, and sh shouldn't have been on the sidewalk anyways.." "Okay, not guilty."

Pocket folders are great. Maybe a big flashlight that is really bright would be something not suspected, but a bit more of a pain to carry around. Car keys, but not much use in a group melee setting.

The only other thing I can think of is you are Bruce Banner, and you can chuckle inside...
