when you spar where are your eyes focused/ looking. I always try to look the person in the eyes because I find the can reviel many things about the person you are sparing...I was watching television today and they were talking about the negatives of looking at someones eyes, they said it was easyer to recognize and prepare foot sweeps and low body shots. Personally I also look at their eyes as a subtle way of intimadation...where do you look and why?

We envision a triangle made from the forehead to the shoulders and focus on that. Alternatively, you can focus on the hollow of the neck. Really though, you shouldn't be staring at a point to the exclusion of all others. Especially if you find it distracting in an engagement. Only my opinion though.

I've seen some styles of Silat that specifcally want you to look anywhere but directly at your attacker. The reason being is that they believe that your natural tendacy to respond to movement in your peripheral vision allows one to react quicker as less "processing" occurs before the reaction...Dunno, never tried it.

Hope this helps

Thanks

It takes sacrifice to be the best.

There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy.

I look at the eyes right up until the action starts.

you can read intention, reason with, dominate or frighten a person with the eyes.

Once playtime begins a soft focus around the solar plexus allows me to see the body language better.

It's almost as if I am looking "through" my opponent.
