Elizabeth Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Is there a website that shows all the different stances and their names? I keep hearing shukodachi, zenkutsudachi and other ones that I don't know if I'm even hearing right in class, but I'm not sure what exactly they are. Is there a reference page somewhere that might be useful?
Slayer2004 Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Hi ElizabethI have a couple of links for your, there are a lot on the net so I am sure you will get a few more before you know it. The only thing I would want to point out is that there may be variations in stances depending on your style etc so please only use what I have posted for you as a reference and not as cannon as you will need to refer back to your Sensei for that.http://www.karatetest.comhttp://www.natkd.com/stances.htmI hope they will help a little.
Nevinyrral Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Hey slayer, are those kiokushin stances? because kokutsu is a bit diffrent from what we do. we have front foot facing enemy, and feets in one line A style is just a name.
Shotokan_Tigress Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Yes, they don't look very shotokan to me either. The greatest fight is the fight with oneself
Benkyou Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 KarateTest is based on Kyokushin I found a Website who help me a lot because i am very bad in Japanese... >< Maybe it could help others people : https://www.karatetest.com
Nevinyrral Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Would be nice if there were similar sites but for other styles A style is just a name.
Elizabeth Posted November 19, 2010 Author Posted November 19, 2010 Would be nice if there were ANY resources for my style! Thanks for the links, Slayer, I'll check them out! Point on variations noted.
Benkyou Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 KarateTest is my website Well, i will try t make it for shotokan style too I found a Website who help me a lot because i am very bad in Japanese... >< Maybe it could help others people : https://www.karatetest.com
Slayer2004 Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I know they are different, I did say that, but I also know it is a struggle to find stance images online and these are still a good indication, better than nothing in a lot of ways, but like always I will still recommend learning from an instructor and not a website.
