aiki40
Study Nihon Goshin Aikido(NGA) for 5yrs when I lived in Tampa, FL. I have been currently studying Hombu Aikido for about a year now here in Oakland, CA. NGA is smaller cicrles, strikes, throws, joint locks, and pressure points. Even though people may consider NGA to be hard stlye, it's varity of techniques allows one to be aggressive towards an attacker.. which may be approriate or one may be more passive towards thier attacker, you may apply technique which may not cause any injury towards your attacker. In my Hombu stlye it seems to be alot more passive... But then again it all depend on your instructor...
CheekyMusician
I don't study Aikido, but I'd like to start. I'm contemplating joining the local club in the next week, but I don't know if it would end up getting in the way of my karate. Smile. It makes people wonder what you've been up to. Kensai
Cheekymusician, I think Aikido would really benefit both your striking and stand up grappling abilitys. Also as Aikido is very evasive and Karate in general is'nt, they would compliment eachother. But like I have said before Aikido takes a long long time before you can use it. I have resently relised this, due to the fact that to do your 3rd Dan in the federation I am in takes nearly 11 years! Insanity Iwama is a really cool style. I have one of Morihihiro Saitos books. Looks very similar to what I do. Best of luck in your studies.
