sempei
I hope the offer to clarify specific Isshyn Ryu questions is still up! In order to complete my grading, I must first pass a written test. My sensei has informed me I must know:- First female to practice Isshin Ryu Karate- The four Isshin Ryu Organizations Thesre are more questions as well of course, but these are some of the ones I'm having the most difficulty researching. If you could help me with either of them, or check out my forum called "Isshin Ryu" to see some of my other questions about karate, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

isshinryu5toforever
There are way more than 4:IIKA - International Isshinryu Karate AssociationAOKA - American Okinawan Karate AssociationOIKKA - Okinawan Isshinryu Karate and Kobudo AssociationIOTKA - Isshinryu Okinawa Traditional Karate AssociationUSIKA (Long) - United States Isshinryu Karate AssociationIWKA - as mentioned aboveUIKA (Mitchum) - United Isshinryu Karate AssociationAmerican Budokai - There are two of these. One is a collection of dojo dedicated to keeping the teachings of Dale Jenkins alive. The other I haven't had any contact with.I'm sure there are others. To answer the question about the first woman. That one you should ask your sensei. There can be no serious definitive answer. Shimabuku may have taught women on the Okinawan mainland, who knows. Maybe his daughter or wife gleaned a little something. What exactly qualifies as teaching? This might be a lead, but it is in no way definitive:http://www.academictrainingtraditions.com/martialarts/isshinryupage.html He who knows others is wise.
