DWx
Came across this: Its Aero-kickboxing which from looking at the rules on the WAKO website is kinda like a creative form with aerobics in there as well. Not sure what to make of it? How can you really judge something like that? isshinryu5toforever
I'm sure you judge it based on form and foot placement, just like everything else that involves some sort of non-fight performance. Does it look really stupid? Yes. Would it be a heck of a workout? Yes. I could see its application for cardio purposes. You couldn't ever convince someone that here is another benefit other than getting more kicks in and working on your endurance, but I would give it a shot. It would mix things up a bit instead of running, swimming and/or biking. He who knows others is wise. joesteph
I can understand an organization recognizing that cardio (or aerobic) kickboxing has its popularity, and why not capitalize on it, if not motivate those who are involved? The video's dated December 2007. It could be a startup time for the sport; it might have grown since then, meaning better presentations. Would you know if this is something included with karate tournaments, Danielle, or if it stands on its own? ~ JoeVee Arnis Jitsu/JuJitsu
sensei8
At :38 I was frantically moving my mouse to end it all. I was wondering when Tae Bo was going to become an Olympic Sport. No, I couldn't and I wouldn't judge this type of event because I'm wondering why it needs to be judged. Possibly, like isshinryu5toforever said, form and foot placement, but what throws me way off is the aerobic step, which brought me right back to thinking about Tae Bo.Then I was fighting with myself becauce this was for WORLD CHAMPION; why not!?Would you know if this is something included with karate tournaments, Danielle, or if it stands on its own?Sorry, I'm not Danielle, but, the video was recorded at the WAKO [World Association of Kickboxing Organizations]. Here's the official WAKO Aero Kickboxing RULES...http://www.wakoweb.com/Pdf/3200.pdfTo each his own. **Proof is on the floor!!!
isshinryu5toforever
We give out Olympic gold medals for curling. Don't get me wrong, it takes skill, but it's basically a huge game of shuffleboard on ice. With all the other junk that gets judged, why not one more thing that looks silly? If anything it gives some people a confidence boost. As long as they don't tell these people they can now go out and defend themselves, I'm ok with it. He who knows others is wise.
