Virgil Damian Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 What's your favourite throw to use in Kumite? If you have a video please share the link too, thanks! I'd rather lose a 100 times in practice than 1 time in a combat situation.

likeke34 Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 osoto gari is my favorite because it's so easy to use... i always react to a missed kick or punch with this throw if someone lands in a specific zone right in front of me after their missed attack...at 40sec and 1min 28sechttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6sfguR-wdYi also like to use a straight ashi barai in a combo after i through a double gyaku, or kizami zumki gyaku zuki combo... anything to get an opponent backpedaling, and if their feet are close together i throw the ashi barai, if not i'll throw a chudan mawashi
honoluludesktop Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Ashibarai on attack,Osoto gari on defense after nagashi. (This is a series of animated jpgs, I hope OK by rules)http://judoinfo.com/images/animations/kotaniosotogari.gif
Virgil Damian Posted August 23, 2010 Author Posted August 23, 2010 I prefer to go for osoto gari, but if it fails I'll transition to either a kani basami or tomoe nage. Both aren't allowed in tournaments though, right? I'd rather lose a 100 times in practice than 1 time in a combat situation.
Dobbersky Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 We tend to use Throws specific to Ashihara/Enshin Karate. But I do love De Ashi Harai as well as Tomoe Nage. I also use Muay Thai Throws in my sparring too. "Challenge is a Dragon with a Gift in its mouth....Tame the Dragon and the Gift is Yours....." Noela Evans (author)
Virgil Damian Posted August 23, 2010 Author Posted August 23, 2010 Muay thai has throws? D'you have any videos of those? I'd rather lose a 100 times in practice than 1 time in a combat situation.
bushido_man96 Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Muay Thai does have some takedowns and throws, but I don't think they happen too often in matches. I could be wrong, though. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

bushido_man96 Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Oh, nothing that complex. More of the sweeping motions, and things done in the clinch, more up high. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
