Good XMA school in Central Florida.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm looking for a good XMA school or karate school in central Florida. Either Orlando or Tampa areas.

Looking for a school that would have a good reputation with forms, extreme musical and extreme weapons in particular, as these are my specialities.

I currently attend a MMA school in Ireland, a very successful one with a host of world titles. I do study fighting techniques and spar, but due to a spine injury earlier this year competitive fighting would be a bit of a risk if I took a bad blow to my back. But I would like to continue fight techniques too for fitness and to perhaps go competitive later once my spine has fully healed.

I am relocating to Florida next year and wish to continue my training.

Good forms, tricking and bo coaches would be what I'm mainly looking for.

Thanks!

So doing the acrobatics found in XMA will help your back? I think you are better-off sticking with MMA. Checkout one of the ATT schools in Florida.

You do not need to be flexible to do a Jodan (head kick), if your opponent is already on the ground.

Yea I've found the stretching and strength training for acrobatics has helped my back alot. It was my coccyx I injured. I come from a dance, gymnastics, baton twirling background so I feel more comfortable with XMA and bo tricks. In training so far I've never had problems with my back doing acrobatics, sometimes a little aching, but I've had problems after taking a kick to lower back or backside, or if a take a drop to the floor. This is what I'd be worried about with sparring at mo, as this was only light contact, so if it was full contact......

Mike chat is a really good guy in person, I saw him get his 4th Dan In ATA at the world championships back in 2005. If you can do the moves from XMA then you can practically do any martial arts you want, hands down.
