Elektra Posted August 31, 2002 Posted August 31, 2002 When people are feeling no pain it is hard to hurt them. This is why everyone MUST know how to use and apply several simple chokes. I don't care how messed up you are when the lungs don't get air the brain don't get blood and you pass out. No pain or damage done but a nice nap to help them get ready for the hang over. Isn't choking them out dangerous as well? After all, ! But then, they're less likely to sue you for slight brain damage than for a broken knee. I don't know - I was just wondering how safe it is. After a few chokes, my head starts hurting, and that's when I tap before passing out. Will you know for sure when to let go so they'll wake up? After all, their responses are different. Won't a choke interfere with their already fucked up state and have them croke as they're choking on vomit or god knows what? I haven't seen many people pass out from chokes - especially drunk - so i'm just wondering what you guys think. Has anyone actually ever done this?
G95champ Posted September 1, 2002 Posted September 1, 2002 Im sure anytime you choke someone its dangerous. However when they are attacking you, your need to take care of yourself first. Im not saying kill them with a choke but you can control them with one. In college I broke up 2 fights but stepping in and choking a guy. I would apply pressure when he relaxed I would let up some. if he moved in anger again I would squeeze back down. I did not put him to sleep. Im sure I could have but I used it to control him. Ti-Kwon-Leap Posted September 1, 2002 Posted September 1, 2002 Chokeholds can be fatal after the 3 minute mark. Also, the person who the hold is applied to will enter a "fight or flight" state whereby they will be filled with an adreniline rush and will fight violently in a panicked effort to free themselves. It's not like in the movies where the guy just calmly passes out. -just a couple things to consider... Ti-Kwon-Leap"Annoying the ignorant since 1961"
ramymensa Posted September 2, 2002 Posted September 2, 2002 Guess I'm just coward ... Had the "opportunity" of kicking some drunk b..t, bur I ran away. The guy was too "stoned" so i guess he wouldn't appreciate my technique And because I like to show off and I didn't have "audience" I've chosen to retreat. He wasn't that aggresive (only in language he was criminal ), so I thought the best way is to let him go. I don't know if it was bad ... but it was my choice then World Shotokan Karate
LeaF Posted September 2, 2002 Posted September 2, 2002 well done ram, I commend you. Retreat is always the best option. I do not like hurting someone who does not understand what they are doing. A drunk is by no means completely in control of what they are doing. And if you can leave without causing unessary pain to that drunk you are far bigger a man then the dude who kicks the @#$% out of him.... Elektra Posted September 2, 2002 Posted September 2, 2002 That's right LeaF. Good job Ram. In fact, this holds for sober people as well. If you can get out of there and avoid a fight, do it. After all, why make a concession for drunks but not for the regular idiot that's just dim by nature? If he thinks you're a coward, let him. It's not his validation you need.
ramymensa Posted September 3, 2002 Posted September 3, 2002 10x to you all The ordinary guy would have thought I was a chicken, but let them have their way. To be honest I hope I'll never have the "opportunity" of defending myself from such a guy. It's frustrating World Shotokan Karate
Davison Posted May 21, 2003 Posted May 21, 2003 if hes drunk enough to be stumbleing and trys to pick a fight with you, instead of hurting this person, wouldnt it be better to walk away?but if u had no other choice,id have to go with throwing the guy around.(hey, why not.he can barely stand up!) Why punch someone when their on the ground when you can just kick them
monkeygirl Posted May 21, 2003 Posted May 21, 2003 If the guy's drunk enough to not feel pain, he probably can't chase after you without falling on his face. If you can run away, that's probably the best option. However, if he's got you cornered...that's when you'll have to resort to blowing out his knee/choking him out. What about a good ol' tazer? What kind of effects would that have? 1st dan & Asst. Instructor TKD 2000-2003No matter the tune...if you can rock it, rock it hard.
Shorin Ryuu Posted May 22, 2003 Posted May 22, 2003 If he's into drunken boxing, then you'd better run away quickly!!!
