sensei8 Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Some here may or may not know who Josh Waitzkin is. If you've ever seen the film entitled, Searching for Bobby Fischer, then you've heard about Josh. He's an International Chess Master and he's won several Tai Chi Chuan Push Hand tournaments, and Josh is also a brown belt in BJJ under Marcelo Garcia.I thought that many of the BJJ and MMA exponents here would enjoy these interviews, as well as a Wikipedia look at Josh, and a link to Josh's website.Enjoy....http://www.onthemat.com/articles/Josh_Waitzkin_Interview_01_25_2008.htmlhttp://neijia.wordpress.com/2008/05/02/josh-waitzkin-interview/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joshua_Waitzkinhttp://www.joshwaitzkin.com/ **Proof is on the floor!!!
sensei8 Posted June 24, 2010 Author Posted June 24, 2010 Well...obviously Josh isn't as interesting to BJJ/MMA practitioners after all. **Proof is on the floor!!!
ps1 Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Well...obviously Josh isn't as interesting to BJJ/MMA practitioners after all. Why would you assume that? I find it extremely interesting. It's always nice to read about a true renaissance man. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."

ps1 Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 There's really not much to say. I'm sure he's good. You don't get a brown belt by not being good. Other than that...well...it's cool that he won the world "push hands" competition. Never trained with or competed against him though. Sorry! **Proof is on the floor!!!
JiuJitsuNation Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I probably would have been more interested to see him in action. Brown belt under Marcelo seems impressive enough. Never heard of him before now. Which doesn't necessarily mean a whole lot. https://www.1jiujitsunation.com

I didn't mean it that way. Besides...now it has a few more talking points. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."

Which doesn't necessarily mean a whole lot.No doubt. My instructors just went to a seminar in Canton, OH with Marcelo. Said it was pretty good. They said he's not the most technical guy they've met...but that he's smooth like butter. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."

You've peeked my interest, so I'll see what I can come up with. **Proof is on the floor!!!
