StrangeBacon Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I generally call any instructor "Sen" its well accepted in our style and it feels odd calling them by their names, if there's more than one in the room or im trying to get ones attention i'll say ____-san. "Get beyond violence, yet learn to understand its ways""Seek peace in every moment, yet be prepared to defend your very being""Does the river dwell on how long it will take to become the ocean..." - Sensei Bruce Paynehttps://www.shinkido.co.uk
bushido_man96 Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 How come when this survey pops up, no one ever puts the choice "act like every other human in the world does"....????? https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

Nevinyrral Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I alway call my instructor sensei, even if we talk in the changing room or outside. A style is just a name.
shotokan-ste Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 in the dojo we all call our instructor sensei, after 1 month of me attending karate i bumped into my sensei at the supermarket and automatically said hi sensei, she asked to be called by her first name outside the dojo, unless we were representing the karate club
KumitePanda Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 in the dojo its sensei or sempai depending on who your talking to but outside the dojo its by their first names.the only exception is takahashi and he is to be called shihan or shihan takahashi at all times. for those of you that dont know who he is; he is an 8th dan chief instructor of TSKF and is highly respected. ~Rhi
