kaze Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 did china have any stick fighting in the style of arnis, or eskrima?if a man trained in china in the 1800's and picked up a stick the length of a hammer--18"--or a railroad pick--36"--would he be able to use it as a weapon?
bushido_man96 Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I don't know of any Chinese stick styles. The club or stick has been a pretty universal tool/weapon throughout the history of man, but I don't know that the Chinese ever developed anything to the extent that the Filipino styles have. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Mistassailant5 Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I am not sure of stick styles, but there are obviously Bo staff styles I am not a fighter, I am a guardian.
fujau Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 i dont think there is a style like arnis but but to your question will a kung fu person pick up a stick and use it probably yestry not to think of a weapon as weapon but a extension of your hand
lparnes Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Kung fu is from china and some forms teaches weapon use. Louis Parnes
bushido_man96 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Kung fu is from china and some forms teaches weapon use. They do, but I have not seen much short stick usage out of Chinese styles. I've seen a lot of sword, spear, and flexible weapons, but not much stick. Maybe some staff. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
