I think Ortiz came in the sport at the right time. Nothing against him he trains hard and is a great fighter. Some of his success I believe is because of the rules that have been implied to get the UFC back on TV.

Did you know that the UFC has never had a fatal match. Boxing has had some but boxing isnt seen as violent as the UFC. Also the sportsman ship in the UFC is usually much better than in Boxing. (dont get me wrong I like boxing) So why did the networks and congress deam the UFC to violent and not boxing. Also if you are going to the extreme to take all the violence off of TV then you would have to take half the cartoons that are on off. (Take Roadrunner and Wiley Coyote fir instance, all that show is is violence but since it is animated must be it doesnt count)

Why take the UFC off when they did? It led to more rules that I think has made it less of an event. Also gears it towards Grapplers.

I like Tito I just think he stepped into the Sport at the best time he could. Dont think he would have done as good in the original ones if he was there then. (not that he was old enough)

Tito is a very good fighter and I would probably get killed by him. So dont get to upset if you like tito.

mmmmm...Tito Ortiz is...........ok, but he does lack skill, he chooses power over technique which against an extremely skilled opponent like Frank Shamrock will result in a lost, as it did to Tito. Yet I believe the best in MMA is Kazushi Sakuraba and Frank Shamrock!

Frank Shamrcok is the best pound for pound fighter I have seen. He can do it all. Ortiz is a good fighter and could take almost anyone but he is not a Martial Artists because of his disrespect for others.

ramcalgary... the "slogan" I use is not the "Tapout" slogan, their slogan is "In ya face" and "An expression of combat". Any user name can be someone else's, also the phrase "Tapout" has been around MUCH, MUCH longer then the company! So PLZ sit back and relax!

How could a lack of respect make someone not a martial artist?¿? So if someone trains for 25 years and swears at an opponent, he's not a real Martial Artist?! Of course Tito's a champion, he's got the belt don't he? As for Frank, maybe Tito's not as good as him but, it doesnt make Tito any less of a Champion. ..................

But for the record, Kazushi Sakuraba kills 'em all.... AZN PRIDE!

Because Martial Arts is all about respect.

Like I said Ortiz is a great fighter (one of the best). I would give him good odds aginst anyone. Yes he has won many championships but the belt does not make one a champion. IMO he does not show the character traits a true champion should thats all.

G95, you realize that Tito is just makin a persona for himself, he's supposedly a real good guy in real life he's juss tryin to spice things up wit the whole bad boy attitude, its prolly what has made him so popular.

Again I have nothing aginst Ortiz I love to watch him fight. You may be right. In fact I would agree that you are right that a lot of people are more show with their attitudes but IMO a champion should be respectful. Im sure Ortiz is a great guy. Win with class and loose with class.
