Weight ratio in stances

Recommended Posts

Out of curiosity I wanted to start a discussion on what the different weight ratios are in differnent stances and if they differ in different styles.

The first style of Tae Kwon Do I learned was:

Front stance 50/50

Back stance 70/30

Horse stance 50/50

Cat stance 90/10

Any other variations out there?

What does Zenkutsu mean?

Chitsu

I believe it means forward. Or at least that was what I was told. Maybe I should really look up. In less you care to enlighten me :) I don't always trust what meaning I get from the good old google search.

Ours are the same as that although we use different names for them.

Also have a ton of other stances with varying weight distributions betwenn 50/50, 60/40, 100/0.

We pretty much work out of a single fighting stance for training. It works around 50/50 on distribution.
