andell Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Naifanchi 1,because for me it is the one kata i feel i can practice for years to come.
Harkon72 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 For me it's Sochin Kata and Bassai Dai.The first is where the movement is mostly internal, the second is where you need to give it all you've got to storm that fortress. Look to the far mountain and see all.
DoctorQui Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 In Wado Ryu my favourite is Kushanku and in Shotokan its Bassai Dai
Harkon72 Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Hi Doctor,Is Kushanku also called Kanku Dai?If so there should be a Kanku Sho as well. Look to the far mountain and see all.
DoctorQui Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Hi Doctor,Is Kushanku also called Kanku Dai?If so there should be a Kanku Sho as well. They are the same but different! While Kushanku brings all the Wado Pinan's together in one kata, Kanku Dai (in my experience) is one of a few katas that brings the Heians together in a group of Brown belt katas. Someone may be able to put it clearer than I can!
