How do I put a certain black belt in his place who thinks his belt level is a ticket to belittle and mock others? I, personally, think that that is the only reason he wanted it. On one hand, he makes me so angry, but i have excellent focus in sparring, and he doesn't. Hint- when he's mocking me, he often leaves himself open due to his lack of focus and morally bankrupt personality. I have tried to be kind to him and want a subtle way to send him the message that I'm serious about martial arts so that he no longer feels he can belittle me and others.

Grrrrrrrrrr,

We sometimes handled attitude problems while sparring. Put the problem in his place. Knock his butte to the other side of the room. Then when you are done let someone else have a turn.

I agree with Sai, a little dose of humility will go a long way in this case. :brow:

Dee, Don’t bring yourself down to his level, you don’t have to put him in his place, he’s already there. He is a person whose own self-esteem is that low that he feels the need to belittle others to feel good about himself.

In my opinion you have done the right thing by showing kindness to this person, you have set a high moral standard. He will learn in time that there is a difference between learning a martial art and having a black belt, to that of being a martial artist.

Let your head blackbelt know, I have a pester of a black belt in my class, but the sensei lets me give him a smack here and there, cause if he deserves it pop it to him.

Take advantage of his "lack of focus" and capitalize on it ... this will show him he's not "all that" ....

{I'm sure your Sensei is well aware of his behaviour and I wonder why he hasn't been spoken to reagrding it .... does you school have a code of conduct or tenets it follows? )

Dee I may be reading into this a bit but I assume you are a gril. I am betting the person you are talking about is a guy. Thus I assume he is flirting with you.

When such cases come up in our class I usually take care of it in sparring. Much like Sai was talking about. Talk to your teacher first!!!!!

I hate attitude and disrespect from blackbelts more than anything, It goes aginst everything karate is about.

Dun listen to the "don't sink to his level" arguments. When have they eveer helped anything, this isn't a kindergarten playground.

When he's mocking you give him a good punch in the nose, with any luck it will bleed.

Sure its prolly and illegal technique. But it will definatley show him that u mean business and that his "skills" weren't enough to beat even you(i assume ur around beginner or intermediate belts)

Imagine his surpirse that such a lower belt just handed him his @$$ on a silver plater.

There was this real arrogant guy in a tourny i went to, after he gave me a shovel hook to my ribs and the judge was saying stop, i punched him in the face. The judge let it go and made us touch gloves, so we went at it again, and guess wat? I punched him in the face again

I know, i'm a sad one
