dangerous365 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Im from the UKI am interested in starting karate (for fitness and self confidence - not interested in winning medals etc) but id like something which would toughen me up for the street. The choice is betweenKyokushin and zen-shin-ryu.I know about Kyokushin karate but ive dont know anything about zen-shin-ryu. Here is the website to zen-shin-ryu club...http://www.uifma-doveropenkarateclub.com/index.htmlAny advice or knowledge would be great!
Toptomcat Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 (edited) As I said in your other thread, go Kyokushin. They have an excellent reputation, and the number of dubious claims made on the Zen-Shin club's Web site makes me suspicious of them. Edited February 26, 2010 by Toptomcat
dangerous365 Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 HIsorry i totally forgot i started the other thread, apologies.thanks
Soheir Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 I'd say Kyokushin . I know I like it!I don't know anything about the other one thought... “One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular.” -Anthony Robbins
ps1 Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Kyokushin has a great reputation. It's difficult, but will lead you to your goals. The Other website leads me to question the credibility of the school. Any time I see anything that says so and so was the "first to break away" ect... A red flag goes up. To me that just says, so and so wanted to be in charge so he decided to do his own thing. Don't get me wrong, it could be a good school. But Kyokushin is a sure thing. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
Kuma Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I'm definitely biased, but I'd say Kyokushin as well.
Throwdown0850 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Id say go Kyokushin, it will give you Teh D34DLY. You must become more than just a man in the mind of your opponent. -Henri Ducard
Dobbersky Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 kyokushin is the way OSU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Challenge is a Dragon with a Gift in its mouth....Tame the Dragon and the Gift is Yours....." Noela Evans (author)
Bahamas Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 i dont mean to but in . but i think kyokushin style is good n all but i think i might perefer the zen shin do karate. I mean thats my opinion. Its goju and ot.her karate styles and kunfu for easier movement and being more flexibleIt sounds awesome. But as for kyokushin i'be been looking at the katas and their similar to the other heains and pinanz. I dont klnow any of the katas for zen shin.
