Sounds like, a hook sweep to me. Here is a youtube video.

You do not need to be flexible to do a Jodan (head kick), if your opponent is already on the ground.

And I've drills for moving around in kiba daichi justified not as a practicality but as an exercise for the legs.

my shodan told us that kiba dachi helps us do for example yoko geri keage and yoko geri kekomi easier than when we're in zenkutsu dachi. so it helps that way too.

Some people regard discipline as a chore. For me it is a kind of order that sets me free to fly.

In my experience, it a "proper" kiba dachi, NOTHING is easier. Even standing is a pain in the leg! :)
