ShawnJ
My Shodan test is tomorrow. Nervous and excited at the same time. There are going to be about eight of us testing and the test is about four hours - followed by a spaghetti dinner that Sensei is making. lolI think the main thing I'm worried about is my stamina. I've been working a lot lately and haven't been able to be at the dojo as often as I would like. Shodan in Shorin-Ryu USA
DWx
Good luck Shawn What do you have to do at the test? "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
ShawnJ
We have to perform all of our current kata, starting from our lowest and working up to our highest - that's what we do on the spot. So that will be eleven kata.We also have to do partner excerises, ie. three-point arm training, Yakusoku Kumite (I believe the first three), Oyo-Tan-Ren, cross-deck exercises etc.I'm not sure what else will be on the test. joesteph
Eleven kata, partner exercises, etc. over a four-hour time period. That's not a test, that's an exam! With a black belt as the brass ring, I can see how you're nervous and yet excited at the same time.Good luck, Shawn! ~ JoeVee Arnis Jitsu/JuJitsu

Blade96
what everyone else said. Best wishes! Some people regard discipline as a chore. For me it is a kind of order that sets me free to fly.You don't have to blow out someone else's candle in order to let your own flame shine.
