alienmoac Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 so i have done tae kwon do for a year and i stopped due to money issues. i am ready to start again but i don't want to do tae kwon do. i was hoping for something more practical, like kenpo. does anyone know of kenpo schools or teachers in Columbia, Missouri? or if there are none, how about anything possibly self-defense practical in the area? i really wish to get back into martial arts but tae kwon do just didnt suit me.
algernon Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 A quick look through the yellow pages should get you what you need. Most schools don't include their style in their name, so you will probably have to make some phone calls. Here's one to get you started.http://www.kenponet.com/studionet/us/missouri/mo_columbia.htmlIf you find a school that teaches Kenpo, make sure it is "good" kenpo. An instructor once or twice removed from Parker (legitimately) would be wonderful, but here are some videos that give you a good idea of the type of movement that you should be looking for in a Kenpo school.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juJ3MAFN9J8&feature=PlayList&p=667CD0169C68A335&index=0
wildman1717 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 I agree with algernon about the yellow pages. Also, google is your friend.
sperki Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Check the university. My wife did Shotokan (I think) for the four years she was at Mizzou.
