thaiboxerken Posted September 26, 2001 Posted September 26, 2001 I like the scene in "Game of Death" where Bruce Lee and Dan Inosanto duel with the nun-chuka. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
SaiFightsMS Posted October 30, 2001 Posted October 30, 2001 You think nunchaku have a mind of their own sometimes. :idea:I was standing in my living room with my nunchaku not long ago and looked at my heavy bag and had this idea . So I took a swing at the bag I learned something very important. The work we have done at my school with nunchaku allways involve a deceleration loop before catching them. :idea:Wow is there ever a good reason for that.
kicker Posted November 4, 2001 Posted November 4, 2001 well what happened after you hit the bag???? .. when you do your best it`s going to show. "If you watch the pros, You will learn something new"
Athorn4941 Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 (edited) Yeah if it bounced back and hit you theres a trick to doing that. when you strike objects people with nunchakus you try to hit with the tip if the nunchaku, and the strike point should be in front of the direction of the motion of your swing.(sorry if it was a bad explantion.) One way to get into the habbit of hitting with the tip is to go outside and practice hitting leaves off a tree(the one your aiming at not the one beside it). You be amazed how hard this can be when you first try it. If you you hit the bag and it busted in half ha ha. just jk. yeah you have to be extremly careful what you hit with your nunchakus. i was reading somewhere on the net that a average person can hit with the power of 2000lbs per sq in. i might be wrong on the power. its been awhile since i lost the link on that. i noticed that people say practise with foam chucks i personally dont believe in this. cuase once you get used to one type of weapon it is even harder to get use to another one so actually i think its a good idea to practice with a variety of different types of nunchakus. to get a feel of them all. but use one type of nunchaku as your primary practise one. SaiFightsMS Posted April 17, 2002 Posted April 17, 2002 There is a technique for swinging the nunchaku in a loop to slow down the speed and keep it under control. It seems kind of weird to learn it as part of a kata but doing it live bouncing off a targer made it come to life.
Bitseach Posted May 13, 2002 Posted May 13, 2002 I have to use foam chucks else I'd be in hospital right now! Only started with them a few weeks ago and haven't quite got the "swing" of it yet! Geddit? Swing??! HA HA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~My karma will run over your dogma~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
