jsteczko Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 But you still can train these takedowns on judo classes? This is just tournaments... and martial arts tournaments are in most cases just a sport and not a martial art. This is the same thing in karate, they remove a lot of techniques in karate competitions. Unfortunately judo or any martial art that is practiced as a sport is not effective. This is at least my opinion, because in martial arts sports you don't learn many things. Too many techniques are removed. Greetings John SteczkoJohn The Burn Belly Fat Guy
bushido_man96 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I think Martial Arts sports are very effective, especially because they usually have a higher level of contact and resistance in their sparring. Olympic TKD and Boxing fight to knockout, Judo, BJJ, and Wrestling all are 100% resistive. This is very good training, even with the rule sets in place. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Toptomcat Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Perhaps a better way to phrase it might be:Sportive training can be very martially useful, but if taken as an end to itself rather than as an aid to martial training it can be counterproductive from a martial perspective.
