There is a shop close by that sell throwing knives but they are expensive. They are £13. But they are good for when you are bored. Is a knife an actual weapon used in martial arts?

I've bought a throwing knife of one of my mates and can't get it to work. i use it on my dart board, and it hardly ever sticks in. :???:

Can someone please help me with some techniques and tips?

Cheers :karate:

a dart board? with the little steel rod dividing the target areas? that could throw (no pun intended) off the knife. from my experience, dont throw it vertically. throw it horrizontally. so if you have it in your hand pointed at the target you want to see it fat ways, not skinny. stand 10 feet from the target, and throw it from the blade. every 5 feet you alternate blade handle. (unless it is designed to be throw from only one) i like 15 feet, from the handle. but from 10 feet the knife should rotate only 1 1/2 times. every 5 feet it should rotate 1/2 times. so from 15 feet its 2. dont snap your srist like in the moves. its all arm! from 10 and 15 feet you dont have to throw it too hard.

hold the knife in the middle with your thumb and pointer finger. the other fingers just hold the knife steady. when you release all fingers let go at once.

i think thats every thing. good throwing.

hope this helps.

I just started a few months ago, when a master came through with intro instruction. He just came back through, and now I'm sticking them pretty consistantly.

I now need to buy some of my own, so does anyone have a line on the best deal for 10in Hibbons? I see them sold seperately for around $22 ea. Does anyone know of any better deals?

well throwing knives is okay but it`s hard you need lots of practice for it to hit the target and stay!!It`s pretty fun once you get the hang of it!!

One of the easiest things to do is to just buy a double-bladed throwing knife, they're more expensive but you can throw them pretty much however you want and they'll stick. With others it depends on the weighting of the knife, whether the blade or tang is heavier.
