Lupin1 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Some guy in my class made everyone these small wooden dowels from broom handles. I tried to make my own, but it was too small. They stick out just a few centimeters from each side of your hand and he drilled a hole in the center for us to wrap twine around them to give a grip. They're about the size of a roll of quarters, which the guy said in the Marines they used to bring with them to bars to use as weapons. Apparently they're based off of some piece of fishing equipment people used as weapons in Okinawa. We trained with them for a few weeks and I still have mine sitting on my bedside table. Even though it's just a small piece of wood, I do question the legality of it just enough not to want to carry it around.
tallgeese Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Master Pain, you have got to get up to Charelston and play with the SCA guys there. You'd love it. http://alphajiujitsu.com/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJhRVuwbm__LwXPvFMReMww
bushido_man96 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I miss the SCA fighting. Realistic, it may not be, but fun, it most certainly is! There is nothing quite like getting your bell rung with a helm on! https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

Liver Punch Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Shields, spears, staffs, ill-fated nunchucks. I'm making something into a shank almost all of the time. How traditional would we consider pyrotechnics? "A gun is a tool. Like a butcher knife or a harpoon, or uhh... an alligator."― Homer, The Simpsons

BladeSmartNY Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Think simple. Improvised weapons can be found everywhere.Any stick you pick up on the street can be a self defense tool. My instructor picked up a railroad spike from a dumpster that is shaped exactly like a karambit. https://www.bladesmartny.com - tactical knife fighting and street fighting self defense
Liver Punch Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Sawback Naginata anyone? It's a Gerber machete that costs about $18.00 new, and a generic "farm handle" that I picked up for $15.00 I believe. I removed the handle from the machete, did a little hand machining on the metal end cap of the handle, and ran 2 through it and the blade base. I attached a sorry looking graduation tassel for good measure. It's pretty sturdy, has some nice weight, and the original sheath still works with the whole thing.http://i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq357/gdiel1/P1010021-1.jpghttp://i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq357/gdiel1/P1010020.jpghttp://i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq357/gdiel1/P1010022.jpgMy next project is a flashlight with a ball hitch on it...I believe Tallgeese was dreaming of something along those lines.
