I am Primarily Uechi Ryu but I have also cross trained in many other styles.

I have a strong love for Kata.

Goju Ryu Primarily Meibukan Branch.

Aikido

Bujinkan

Shotokan

Isshinryu

Matayoshi, Yamashita and Yafu Kobudo

ITF and WTF Tae Kwon Do.

Kyokushin

Iaido

Judo

My Favorite Katas are

Seiunchin, Genbu, Sanseiryu and Garyuu

I teach out of thw Fudoshin Machi Dojo

Which in english means

Fudoshin = Immutable in heart

Machi = Private

Dojo = Training Hall.

We are mostly Uechi Ryu and I am the director of the Dojo. We are privately owned and operated so we do not just take walk ins. We interview our students deeply, to make sure they are the kind of people we want learning.

Hi, Ichi_Geki, and welcome to the forums!

It looks like you've experienced a good bit of Japanese, and some Korean, karate, so you must have been exposed to a lot of kata.

I imagine that you've found similar bunkai from different styles, but is there a style whose bunkai you feel is unique, or contains unique applications?

I am drawn to Uechi Ryu Bunkai because of all the holds and grabs.

And Goju Ryu because every kata has a throw in it, we just have to find it.

Goju Ryu has alot of joint locks as well as throws so it keeps you busy contemplating on how Bushi Sensei learned from Kanryo Higaonna.

And then once you get into the meibukan Goju Ryu they have unique katas such as Byakko, which is very similar to Jion actually and Then Genbu kata which is the black turtle. They have a red sparrow form as well (Shujakku)
