SaiFightsMS Posted July 17, 2002 Posted July 17, 2002 Hi Shaolinprincess I have trained with bo, sai, tonfa and nunchaku - listed in order of preferance. One day I plan on starting kama. But that will have to wait a bit.
Pacificshore Posted July 17, 2002 Posted July 17, 2002 Hi there, In my art of Kempo, we study weapons as well. First we start with the Bo, then move on to the Sai, then Nunchuks. Right now, I'm learning the balisong knife as well as other Nunchuk, and Sai katas. Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
Eye of the Tiger Posted July 20, 2002 Posted July 20, 2002 At my old karate place you did Kobodo, but at my new shotokan place we do Kobujutsu.
BlueDragon1981 Posted July 20, 2002 Posted July 20, 2002 We dont have many weapon katas. Dont get taught weapons katas till purple belt and or brown belt. Once we get to that point there are only a couple till black belt....then wow...

Tobias_Reece Posted July 21, 2002 Posted July 21, 2002 ShaolinPrincess Kobudo and kobudojutsu is just the same as saying karate-do and karate-jutsu - "do" meaning way whilst "jutsu" meaning art (loosely). Usually, jutsu involves more combat exercises, such as nunchaku combat. However, in kobudo and kobujutsu there is not much difference - usually its just named one of them by the instructor. I train in KobuDO, but still do a lot of combat exercises. Confused? I am "You Are Never Given A Dream Without Also Being Given The Power To Make It True.
