Dark Planet Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I am searching for a new style something in the traditional chinese family any sugestions? It might help if you described "new style"! Also, are you looking for something in your town? I think he means an art he has yet to practice. "It is better to die for one's master than to fight the enemy."- Hagakure
RichardZ Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 It is hard to fond anything new, if you had been in the same town for a period of time. Usually, to find something new or different requires some travel.
RawHuman Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 First think what kind of style you are looking into. Maybe a style with deep stances, TKD has i thionk 70% kicks, Karate is more punching ( shotokan is a style i really recommend) .
ChoyLayFut Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 What is your current style? I started my training in Shoryn-ryu karate and I am now a Choy Lay Fut student. If you want a kung fu style that is close to okinawan karate then I recommend Hung Gar or Shaolin gong fu.
RichardZ Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I dont reccomend Shaolin Gung Fu, as this is no longer authentic and accurate.I realise you hadn't asked about a choice, but asking or telling what style you should choose is like asking someome what football team you should like.I guess, the best thing is to search your area than searching for answers and personal recommendations of others here.
ChoyLayFut Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 What do you mean no longer accurate or authentic about Shaolin gong fu? I wasnt telling him what he should or shouldnt take, I was just giving suggestions.
RichardZ Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 So was I. Although I think he was looking for a school near him and not a particular style.
