How much do Tokaidos shrink? (compared to say a Mugen)

I have a Mugen Orange label. I've only washed it cold since it was already about the right size and it hasn't shrunk much, maybe only one cm. How much do Tokaidos shrink? If they shrink more (still only in cold water), I'd probably get one with a couple cm more in the arms and legs, if not I'd get the same dimensions as my Mugen.

Thanks in advance!

In my experience Tokaido (also Hirota and Yamaga) that I purchased in Japan will shrink about 1 to 2 cm over time, even washed in cold water and hung to dry. On the other hand, I throw my American bought Mugen orange label in the drier all the time (in attempts to make it a little smaller) and the size never changes at all. The reason why is that gi companies pre-shrink their fabrics in the US, but not in Japan.

By the way, if anyone here ever buys a Mizuno from Japan, NEVER put that thing in a drier! Even if its WAY too big. o_o Mine is like the size of a child's gi now.

Hope that helped! Good luck!

Thanks, that does help, I think the bigger of the two sizes I was considering will fit perfectly then. Now I'll just have to wait until I'm crazy enough to spend that much on a nice gi that I very much want, but don't really need. :D

There are fake Tokaido around. I got a fake gi from US once. They have nothing to do with Tokaido and can´t be compared...I say this because I also have japanese gi, bought from someone with contacts in Japan, and shipped directly from Japan. Not sure whether that company is still around.

My (legit) Tokaido hasn´t shrunk much, washed cold and hang to dry.
