El Guerrero Loco Posted July 13, 2002 Posted July 13, 2002 Hey guys i assume you all know what a vascular choke is(ones that cut of bloodflow to the brain, ie. sleeper) I did one on my friend and he lost his vision for a minute er two, nearly passed out i think but it didn't hurt. I was wondering if its safe for you to make someone pass out, like don't they juss regain consciousness naturally? If not does anyone here know any revival techniques er anytin? or sites dat show them er describe them. thx alot. "Live free.Die well..."
-- Posted July 13, 2002 Posted July 13, 2002 Some vascular chokes can do major permanent damage. The only way to effectively heal someone who has suffered injury is to know accupressure or accupuncture. Reiki is also nice to know, in case you need to apply physical aid, such as CPR. Best thing is not to do what you can't fix. d-----
Bon Posted July 14, 2002 Posted July 14, 2002 If you release the choke as soon as he passes out there shouldn't be any damage, but if you hold it on for a min or two, you can cause brain damage. I think if you choke someone out, you're meant to put them on their side..I'm not sure, I figure if I'm gonna choke someone else, it's 'cause they were trying to hurt me or someone else, so I shouldn't really care about damage to them. It takes sacrifice to be the best. There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy.
K4j4 S1n1s Posted July 14, 2002 Posted July 14, 2002 These chokes are very safe if done by a person who knows them well. They do not shut off blood to the brain. They close veins and so stop blood from leaving the brain. You cannot close an artery with your arm. An artery has a very strong wall. These chokes work by squeezing on the veins which have a weak wall and so close easily. K4J4
skoonz Posted July 26, 2002 Posted July 26, 2002 I disagree. Vascular chokes do cut off arteries and can be dangerous, especially on people with pre-existing vascular conditions. If they only blocked veins then surely the cranial blood pressure would skyrocket causing a CVA (stroke) Blocking arteries is a major part of medicine and first aid, hence the brachial artery block for a severe upper limb haemorage or femoral artery for a lower limb. I personally would not put vascular chokes on that person until they have been checked by an MD. I also avoid anyone over 40 years old. To high risk of aortic or carotid sinus aneurism. Then again "better to be tried by twelve than carried by six"
Student For Life Posted September 19, 2002 Posted September 19, 2002 I hope this helps..... Lateral Vascular Neck Restraints are Very effective in finishing a threat. However, you really need to be careful when applying LVNR's when practicing on a fellow student or friend. If your instructor teaches these techniques.... wait until he or she feels you are ready. There are three different levels of application to an LVNR, but if you do it incorrectly, you could damage the trachea. You are applying pressure to the carrodid arteries which are located on each side of the neck. A person usually passes out when pressure is applied for more than 12 seconds. People have died from applying these techniques when applied incorrectly..... usually through suffication because pressure was applied to the wind pipe rather than the carrodid arteries. My suggestion, speaking as an instructor..... learn the application properly from your instructor..... ask your instructor about the proper application. If you do not have an instructor.... WORD OF ADVICE- Don't apply this technique on a friend..... if your friend passes out and does'nt gain consciousness after 30 seconds.... do you know what to do next? Think about it. %5B/img%5D[/img]
yoriki816 Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 Vascular or "blood" chokes as I have also heard them called can be very dangerous if applied without proper training and supervision in the dojo environment. It is best to wait for detailed instruction and plenty of supervised practice before attempting these techniques anything other than a life or death confrontation. In my dojo, chokes are not even taught until Sankyu (we have seven kyu ranks) and are not allowed in any sort of free form practice such as randori or groundwork until Ikkyu or Shodan depending on the competence and attitude of the student. jiu-jitsu fighter Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 DON'T USE THE F**CK**G CHOKE UNLESS YOU HAVE TO ,YOUR GONNA HURT SOMEONE, ITS NOT A JOKE "When we go to the ground, you are in my world, the ground is the ocean, I am the shark, and most people don't even know how to swim"
striking_cobra Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 vascular chokes are safe when done correctly but i also agree that you should only practice them with the supervision of your sensi. if you do choke your friend out make sure to release the hold imediatly and then just lay him back and pick his feet up...he should regain consiousness within a few seconds. also on a different note...when done properly the choke stops bloodflow to your brain and allows the blood to leave your skull that's why you pass out so quickly...if you stop the flow of blood to the brain but don't let the blood leave the person will still pass out but it will take longer because the brain still has oxygen to use.
