Alex86 Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Does anyone here have any experience with this chest protector? I have not used one in years, but the school I am at now requires one for sparring. Since I will just be point sparring, I am more concerned with something light and low-profile than protection. This is the one I was interested in: http://www.centurymartialarts.com/Sparring_Gear/Chest_Gear/Martial_Armor_L2_Vest.aspxIt looks like it would be more form fitting than any others I have seen.Any input would be great. Thanks!!
AikiGuy Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 I have the older thicker vest which is pretty good for contact sparring. I borrowed one of the Martial Armor vests from someone a few times though. It is very thin and lightweight so it's very comfortable and not restricting at all. However it would only be good for light contact or padded weapons fighting. One solid strike to the stomach and you wouldn't even know you were wearing a vest. So as long as you're not doing full contact stuff it should be ok. Paranoia is not a fault. It is clarity of the world around us.
beagstkd Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 The one you're looking at looks nice. I don't see how much it weighs but it looks pretty light. My kids use one that's similar but you have to tie in the back so it's tough to put it on by yourself.
jeff7pt62 Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 I live down the street from Century. This "vest" is a complete waste of money. It's not much more then a T-shirt, with some thin rubber on it. More for looks then anything else. If you want protection, have the opponant wear gloves, or spend soem real money....why are there two belts for the avitar? I uploaded the purple one...
AikiGuy Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 why are there two belts for the avitar? I uploaded the purple one...The one at the top isn't part of your avatar. Everyone gets one automatically and it changes as your post count goes up. It has nothing to do with your actual rank. Paranoia is not a fault. It is clarity of the world around us.
