Tobias_Reece
A jo is a short staff. Usually when someone says bo, they mean rokushakubo (6ft staff). Usually when someone say jo, they mean yonshakubo/whatever...... (4 ft staff) Hope this helps "You Are Never Given A Dream Without Also Being Given The Power To Make It True. Ti-Kwon-Leap
Phase plasma rifle in 40-watt range. ....either that or a nice tazer. And to G95... the next time I see a guy with a mop I guess I'll know he means buisiness! Ti-Kwon-Leap"Annoying the ignorant since 1961"
G95champ
When I work Bo's and Jo's in class 90% of my students use Mops or Brooms. Saves up money having to buy them. Then it lets us get used to working with something not balanced. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory." Taikudo-ka
The most effective weapon is a pair of well trained hands. Can't be banned, confiscated, disarmed, or checked at the door. Won't get you arrested for carrying. Ready at an instant. Carrying a weapon is not a realistic option for most people in modern civilized society. Maybe things are a bit different over in the US... BTW if you use a knife like a stick you miss out on the best (most lethal) techniques. A stick only inflicts damage on impact - a knife can continue to cut, slash and rip as it moves along the body, also stab, or stab then slash (ouch!). Ti-Kwon-Leap
In the film A Clockwork Orange, Alex (the film's lead and humble narrator) had a walking stick that contained a hidden knife. I thought that was a very versatile weapon. I would like to see one of those which also incorporated stun-gun technology (like a cattle prod) Now THAT would be useful for a grumpy old man! Taikudo-ka
Hey, now come to think of it the traditional European sword-cane was capable of concealing a full-length fencing sabre! Who'd suspect that. They must be still available somewhere. KarateForums.com - Sempai
Ti-Kwon-Leap
there are cheap sword-canes on Ebay and elsewere but the best place I've seen is at: http://server.sword-cane.com/sword/index.htm [ This Message was edited by: Ti-Kwon-Leap on 2002-07-16 05:55 ] Ti-Kwon-Leap"Annoying the ignorant since 1961"
